We used some more strawberries-- I took one of those quart bags, containing an unmeasured quantity of sliced strawberries, from the freezer, thawed it a few hours on the counter, and added the berries to this recipe. The results are pretty fantastic. It is the first time I've made ice cream with raw eggs and just decided to let them go as is-- so far, no detectable effects of salmonella...

The strawberries we used were sliced, and rather than go to any more work cutting, I just left them as they were and threw them in. They might be just a tiny bit big, as yes, they do get kind of hard, but I'd probably do it exactly the same way again. I finished the last of it last night and it was still very tasty.

i used eggs to make strawberry ice cream a few weeks ago too ... i don't think I'll make ice cream without eggs again .. it's too icy otherwise.
all the same, i've noticed that the berry pieces i had in mine were a little too big as they are rock hard in my version. next time, more puree and more finely chopping!!
