Where are you off to? If it's just a couple of hours, I would guess Bintan or Batam? Mot resorts will take USD - but if you're headed into town while you're there definitely bring rupiah. There's an A&W on Batam but we couldn't get a shake with SGD or USD :( It was sad. Have an awesome time!!
