The wallpaper was more of an accident than a plan. Our first real plan was to work on more cohesive flooring.

In our two stories we had nine different flooring types (a few repeats, but in non-adjacent areas). None of them were that bad, there were just a lot of them.

The blue carpet--which at first terrified me--was really pretty nice in the areas that were least worn, but the high traffic areas had staining and wear. The existing hardwood, we learned, was not installed properly. And overall we just hoped for more flow through the house.

If you can only swing one project before you move, we'd heard that floors are it. So we sought out six quotes, which meant at least six opinions. We visited five different flooring outlets, and looked at dozens of samples. It was a bit overwhelming.

And while we can't yet move anything that sits on the floors, that didn't stop us from breaking in the bookshelves! Look how happy it looks with books!
