Happy 4th of July! We are celebrating on an island in the Andaman Sea (Thailand) and currently enjoying a really spectacular sudden storm. Which, in Alli's opinion, is not a bad thing at all!

Last week was a good one. Only a month after we arrived in Singapore, we moved into our new apartment on Tuesday and Wednesday. finally. (Though, great thanks to Emily, Eric, and Jim for their hospitality in the meantime!)

The biggest problem with our new apartment is that it has no internet at present. I can't have it until I have my official employment pass, which I can't have until I'm officially employed. So we have to go to the library and such, meaning the blog suffers.

But we are in, and we are very happy. It's better than we could have planned it.

The relationship with the owners and with the agents looks very good, owners left us art and lots of useful items such as iron and ironing board, vacuum cleaner, cleaning supplies, dishes, pots and pans, and a bottle of wine to celebrate. Our agents got us a rice cooker as a gift, since we'd asked about the one that was there prior and were disappointed that they would be taking it with them.

We have taken several pictures, but we're continuing to take them as we make the place more ours when we return and will save the full portfolio for when this is complete and we have regular internet access. Here's a teaser for you:

Today, this is our view for our nation's birthday. Hope yours is just as lovely.
